President Cyril Ramaphosa announced Regulations issued under Section 27 (2) of the Disaster Management Act in relation to Adjusted Alert Level 4, which will apply nationally from 28 June 2021.

Some of the most critical points are:

• Interprovincial travel: Travel into and out of Gauteng is permitted only for work, for the transport of goods, for funerals or to return home.
• Mandatory wearing of masks: It is mandatory to wear a cloth mask or similar that covers the nose and mouth when in public.
• Curfew: Apart from permitted workers, no person may be outside their place of residence during curfew hours (9 pm to 4 am).
• Gatherings: All social, religious, political and other gatherings of any size are prohibited. Restaurants and other eateries may only serve food for takeaway or delivery. Outside of work, you should only meet with members of your household.
• Funerals: Funerals are restricted to a maximum of 50 people. No night vigils or post-funeral gatherings are permitted.
• Closure of schools: All public and private schools will be closed from Wednesday 30 June 2021 for the winter break.
• Working from home: All employers should allow their employees to work from home unless it is absolutely necessary for them to perform work on-site.
• General:

o People can still go to work, on less they are able to work remotely .
o All retail stores will remain open.
o Factories, mines, farms and other business will continue to operate .
o People can travel freely within their province, subject to curfew times.
o People must still follow the normal protocols: wear a mask, keep a safe
distance from others, stay away from closed or crowded spaces and to
wash hands regularly with soap or sanitiser.
