Forestry career: 5.5 years
I currently work for Njojo construction managing Mondi operations at Umfolozi area in Nyalazi and Mtuba plantation.
My current responsibilities include ensuring that all operations are done safely taking into consideration, the environment and ensuring quality. It also incudes ensuring the sustainability of the business and dealing with all matters relating to the stuff or workers, it also to make sure that all operations are as per Mondi standards with regards to modernisation .
I also worked at MTO as a silviculture forester and also as a planning forester based on enumerations, data base management and managing Microforest.
WHY I LOVE WORKING IN THE FORESTRY SECTOR
So far in forestry it has been an exciting journey that keeps on shaping me day by day, especially working at the contractor level. Hard working and believing in excellence has being one of the things in my backpack for my journey in forestry which has assisted me to be able to achieve an award of best silviculture operations in Zululand within Mondi at Umfolozi.
MY ADVICE TO THOSE EXPLORING A CAREER IN FORESTRY
If you enjoy working closely with people and seeing the people around you growing and their life changing, then you will enjoy this industry. Forestry is all about identifying those with capabilities to grow and aiding their transformation.
