WHY I LOVE WORKING IN THE FORESTRY SECTOR
I am an outdoor and nature-loving person, being part of the forestry industry compliments both my personal and professional interests. My work strikes a balance between office and outdoor work. My work comes with many challenges which entail continuous improvement in terms of site classification systems, tree breeding, nursery practices, silvicultural practices, climate change and, pest and disease management with the view to achieving optimum site-species matching. As a Scientist and Geneticist, I strive to provide solutions which involve a great deal of teamwork and collaboration.

MY ADVICE TO THOSE EXPLORING A CAREER IN FORESTRY?
Forestry is a challenging industry and well suited to both women and men, regardless of the “traditional” perception that forestry is a male labour-intensive environment. We need more women to come and take up space and be at the forefront of this amazing industry. Only women can break the barriers in this male-dominated forestry industry.
