The Forest Sector Charter Council referred to as the “Council” is a representative body constituted of members from Communities, Government, Industry and Labour. The Council was created in 2009 and established through the Amended Forest Sector Code gazetted in terms of Section 9 of the B-BBEE Act 46 of 2013 as Amended.
The Council is tasked with facilitating, encouraging, monitoring and reporting on transformation in the South African forest sector. The Council thus undertakes a myriad of activities aimed at achieving these targets.
Through the Outreach Programme, Council often engages with communities, industry and other relevant stakeholders. As youth have been prioritised as beneficiaries of the Amended Forest Sector Codes, the Council wishes to engage with young forestry professionals to educate them on the prescripts of the Amended Forest Sector Codes, discuss current challenges and opportunities in the sector and build a strong relationship between the Council and industry professionals.
